If your player is interested in more competitive hockey, select is a great option! We have programs for all our players born 2018 or older. To participate, you must attend at least one, but ideally both, of the tryouts below; if you cannot make tryouts, please contact the team’s manager.

The U14 and U16 Stars Select had a successful weekend at the Gene Harrington Falls Classic February 23 – 25. Both squads made it to the playoff rounds, with the U14s placing second overall! It was the first international tournament for both teams, and they represented Parkwoods and Canada proudly. Well done Stars!

On February 1, 2025, Parkwoods held its Grads and All-Stars Game. This game featured nominated “All-Stars” from our house league, select, and goalie programs, as well as a showcase for all our players who will graduate from minor hockey this year. Our honourary coaches, Marc Lawrence and Peter Giddens, both ran competitive benches, but team black and white came out on top. Thank you to all who came out to make the game so special for our players!

After over a decade of service, Francis Cooke stepped down as President of Parkwoods Hockey League this past fall. In honour of his tremendous leadership, the Executive unanimously voted to rename the Winter Classic in Fran’s honour. At Championship Sunday, Fran’s children unveiled the new J. Francis Cooke Winter Classic Banner, which we look forward to raising at Broadlands Arena again next February.

Fran’s passion for the league was only exceeded by his tremendous vision and genuine love for the game. Thank you for your service!
